Motorola

Motorola is a multinational telecommunications company based in Chicago, Illinois, USA. The company was founded in 1928 by two brothers, Paul and Joseph Galvin, as the Galvin Manufacturing Corporation. The company initially produced battery eliminators, which allowed battery-powered radios to be run on household electricity.

In 1930, the company introduced the first commercially successful car radio, the Motorola radio, which became a popular accessory for automobiles. The name “Motorola” was a combination of “motor” (for automobile) and “ola” (which meant “sound” in Spanish).

Over the years, Motorola continued to innovate and expand its product line, including the introduction of the first portable FM radio in 1955, the first cellular phone in 1983, and the first two-way pager in 1995. The company also played a significant role in the development of the communications technology used in the Apollo moon landing missions.
